Cell Parts

This cell part protects the cell and controls movement of material in and out of the cell. cell membrane
This liquid is found inside the whole cell and it contains all the organelles. cytoplasm
This organelle is considered to be the "brain of the the cell" because it controls all the parts and contains DNA. nucleus
These cell parts break down food molecules to produce energy for the cell. mitochondria
This organelle digests food particles, wastes, cell parts, and foreign invaders in the cell. lysosomes
Amino acids are hooked together in this organelle to make proteins. ribosomes
Proteins and other materials are processed and transported out of the cell by this organelle. Golgi complex
This cell part makes lipids, breaks down drugs and other substances, and packages proteins for the Golgi complex. There are two parts - smooth and rough. endoplasmic reticulum
These organelles are not found in animal cells. They help the cell produce its own food and oxygen. chloroplasts
Not all eukaryotic cells have this cell part. It is a rigid outermost structure that is made of cellulose. cell wall
This sac is filled with water or other materials. Sometimes it may aid cells in digestion if filled with enzymes, and when it's filled with water, it may help other cells stay supported. vacuole
