What are the 3 domains and their kingdoms? Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya and the kingdoms are Bacteria, Archaea, Protista, Fungi, Plantae, and Animalia
What is the difference between archaea and bacteria? Bacteria contain peptidoglycan in their cell walls and archaea do not. Archaea are thought to be more ancient than bacteria. Bacteria can live in many different kinds of environments but archaea are extremophiles.
What are the names and shapes of bacteria? Round = Cocci Rod = Bacilli Spiral = Spirochetes
What are the 3 groups of extremophiles and what environments do they live in? 1. Thermoacidophiles; hot acidic environments 2. Halophiles; salty environments 3. Methanogens; no oxygen
How do bacteria survive on the individual and populational level? Bacteria survive on an individual level by producing an endospore and on the populational level by developing generational mutations.
List some ways that bacteria are useful. Bacteria are the "normal flora" in your body and they also help aid in the production of some food and medicines.
List at least 3 reasons why viruses are not living. Viruses are simply a strand of genetic material witha protein coating. They have no organelles, they cannot move, replicate, or make proteins on their own.
How are protists classified? Why might this change in the future? What are the 3 groups protists are classified into as of now. Protists are classified by their method of obtaining nutrition and the way they move around. The groups they are classified into are animal-like, plant-like, and fungus-like. As scientists learn more info about protists, their organization may change.
