Weather the condition of the atmosphere at a particular time and place.
Water Cycle the continuous movement of water from water sources into the air, onto land, into and over the ground and back to the source.
Humidity the amount of water vapor or moisture in the air.
Relative Humidity the amount of moisture the air contains compared with the maximum amount it can hold at a particular temperature.
Psychrometer an instrument used to measure relative humidity.
Condensation the change of state from a gas to a liquid.
Dew Point the temperature at which air must be cool to be completely saturated.
Cloud a collection of millions of tiny water droplets or ice crystals.
Cumulus Clouds puffy, white clouds that tend to have flat bottoms.
Stratus Clouds clouds that form in layers.
Cirrus Clouds thin, feathery white clouds found at high altitudes.
Precipitation water in liquid or solid form that moves from the atmosphere to the land and ocean.
Air Mass a large body of air that has the same temperature and moisture throughout.
Front the boundary that forms between two different air masses.
Severe Weather weather that causes property damage and possible death.
Thunderstorms small, intense storm systems that produce strong winds, heavy rain, lightning, and thunder.
Lightning the large electrical discharge that occurs between two oppositely charged surfaces.
Thunder the sound that results from the rapid expansion of air along a lightning strike.
Tornado a small, rotating column of air with high wind speeds and low central pressure that touches the ground.
Hurricane a large rotating tropical weather system with wind speeds equal to or greater than 1119km/h.
Weather Forecast a prediction of future weather conditions.
Thermometer a tool used to measure air temperature.
Barometer an instrument used to measure air pressure.
Windsock an instrument used to measure wind direction.
Wind Vane another instrument used to measure wind direction.
Anemometer an instrument used to measure wind speed.
Station Model a small circle showing the location of a weather station along with a set of symbols and numbers surrounding it that represents weather data.
Isobars lines that connect points of equal air pressure.
