TermDefinition
cardinal directions the four main directions, North, South, East, and West
compass an instrument used to show directions. The needle of a compass always points North.
Sun The star in which the Earth and 7 other planets revolve around.
revolution the motion of one body around another. The Earth revolves counter clockwise around the Sun every 365 days.
rotation The turning of a body around an axis. the Earth rotates counterclockwise every 24 hours.
horizon A boundary between Earth's surface and the sky.
Cycle A set of events or actions that repeat in a predictable pattern.
predictable to estimate accurately in advance based on a pattern or previous knowledge.
shadow the dark area behind an object that blocks light.
season the four ties during the year that bring predictable weather conditions to a region on earth. Summer, Winter, Fall, and Spring.
