Science 5B The Sun

TermDefinition
Cardinal directions The 4 main directions of North, South, East, and West.
Compass An instrument used to show directions. The needle of a compass always points north.
Sun The star around which Earth and 7 other planets revolve.
Revolution A motion of 1 body moving around another. The Earth revolves counterclockwise around the Sun every 365 days.
Rotation The turning of a body around another. The Earth rotates counterclockwise every 24 hours.
Horizon The boundary between the Earth's surface & the sky.
Cycle The set of events or actions that repeat in a predictable pattern.
Prediction To estimate accurately in advance based on a pattern or previous knowledge.
Shadow The dark area behind an object that blocks light.
Season The 4 times during the year that bring predictable weather conditions to a region on Earth. These are Summer, Winter, Spring, and Fall.
