How are protists classified? Why will this change in the future? Name the current groups. They are classified by the method of obtaining nutrition. They are divided into three groups using this method: animal-like protists, plantlike protists, and fuguslike protists. There is gonna be more of the DNA information available for this kingdom.
How do scientist think that protists with chlorophyll and mitochondria formed? They were formed by algae that had brought them in the cell.
How do amoebas get rid of waste since they dont have an anal pore? The waste will diffuse across the cell.
How do amoebas survive harsh conditions? They have a test which is a hard, porous covering similar to a shell, which surrounds the cell membrane.

3 Ways algae are classified - The type of chlorophyll or secondary pigment - Method of food storage - The composition of the cell wall.
How do algae that have secondary pigments benefit from having them? They allow algae to absorb light energy from wavelengths that are not absorbed by water.
How do diatoms store their food? why is this beneficial? They store their food as oil. Oil is less dense so they can float to the surface and absorb energy from the sun for photosynthesis.
what is the source of diatomaceous earth? How is it used? Fall from silica walls and accumulate on the ocean floor. It is collected and used as an abrasive and a filtering agent.
Explain the function of an euglenas eyespot. The eyespot is a light-sensitive receptor that helps orient the euglenoid toward light for photosythesis.
Name 4 common uses of algae. Red Algae- used to make pressed sheets, soups, and sauces. Brown Algae- used in syrups, ice creams, and paints. Green algae- used in sea lettuce, salads, soups. Diatoms- used in cooking oils, sugars, and water supplies.
Explain how one species of mildew affected the irish potato crops--Include how it got there, how it spread, the side affects to the plants and how the people were affected. They were infected by the holes in the ship, The disease was airborne, It made many people sick and it kill people.
