| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Power grid | a system of power lines, transformers, and equipment used to distribute electricity to a location. |
| Generator | a machine that uses a magnetic field to turn motion to electricity |
| Transformer | a machine that changes the voltage of an alternation current without losing much energy |
| Alternating current | a current that changes direction. The voltage can speed up or slow down. |
| Direct current | current where electrons flow in one direction |
| Series Circuit | has one path for the flow of electric current. If the path is broken the current cannot flow. |
| Parallel Circuit | a circuit that has more than one path or the electric current to follow. If one of the paths is broken the electrons can still flow through other paths. |
