saturated zone an area of permeable rock or soil that fills with water
unsaturated zone a layer of rock or soil above the water table
water table the top of the saturated zone
artesian well when water rises because of the pressure within an aquifer
eutrophication when nutrients build up for many years in a lake
nutrients substances that enable plants and algae to grow
evaporation when molecules at the surface of a liquid substance absorb energy and change to a gas
condensation the process of which a gas changes to a liquid
solvent the substance that does the dissolving
transpiration the process in which water is given off throug the leaves
bayous a riverbank, or a level of water that rises and then goes down
aquifer any underground layer of permeable rock or sediment that holds water
solution a mixture that forms when on substance dissolves another
watershed the land area that supplies water for a river system
mouth/delta where a river meats another body of water
oxbow lake a meander tat curves back into itself
mangrove tall strong grasses that grow in rich, muddy, salt marshes
