producer creates their own energy
consumer consumes other living things to get energy
herbivore only eats plants, no meat
carnivore only eats other animals, no plants
transpiration the movement of water molecules from plants to the atmosphere
infiltration the movement of water from the surface into the soil/ground
condensation the process in which water molecules change from gas to liquid
evaporation the movement of water from a body of water to the atmosphere
percolation the movement of soil from the top soil to the ground water/ water table
precipatation the step after condensation
biosphere the global sum of all ecosystems of earth
groundwater discharge flow rate of groundwater through an aquifer
groundwater recharge when water moves into the ground water (percolation)
confined aquifer in between two confining beds.
unconfined aquifer no confining layer
artesian well a well drilled through impermeable earth into earth that receives water from a higher altitude so there is pressure to force the water
water table the level below which the ground is saturated with water.
compound leaf leaf with leaflets
leaflet a section of a compound leaf
stipule where the leaf/leaflet connects to the plant
palmate leaves/leaflets with veins branching from a single place
pinnate leaves/leaflets with veins branching from a central vein
tree woody, with a trunk
forb flowering plant, woody

opposite leaf pattern are directly opposite eachother
alternate leaf pattern are in an alternative pattern
