| Mutualism | a relationship between two species of organisms in which both benefit from the association. |
| Parasitism | a type of relationship between two species of a plant, animal, fungus, etc., in which one lives with, on, or in another without damage to either. |
| Commensalism | a relation between organisms in which one lives as a parasite on another. |
| Symbiotic | living in symbiosis, or having an interdependent relationship |
| Trophic Level | any class of organisms that occupy the same position in a food chain, as primary consumers, secondary consumers, and tertiary consumers. |
| Producer | Any organism which produces it's own food |
| Consumer | Any organism which eats another organism for energy |
| Predator | Any organism which hunts for it's food(carnivore) |
| Prey | Any organism that forages for it's food(herbivore) |
| Parasite | an organism that lives on or in an organism of another species, known as the host, from the body of which it obtains nutriment. |
| Host | a living animal or plant from which a parasite obtains nutrition. |
| Food Web | a series of organisms related by predator-prey and consumer-resource interactions; the entirety of interrelated food chains in an ecological community. |
| Ecosystem | a system formed by the interaction of a community of organisms with their environment. |
| Biotic Factor | a living thing, as an animal or plant, that influences or affects an ecosystem |
| Abiotic Factor | a nonliving condition or thing, as climate or habitat, that influences or affects an ecosystem and the organisms in it |
| Population | the assemblage of a specific type of organism living in a given area |
| Community | an assemblage of interacting populations occupying a given area |
| Interdependence | the quality or condition of being interdependent, or mutually reliant on each other |
| Adverse | being or acting in a contrary direction |
