petrochemcials compounds that are made from oil & used in plastics, paints, medicines, & cosmetics
natural gas gaseous fossil fuel that is formed from the same organisms as oil; mixture of methane & other gases
non-renewable energy resources energy resources that cannot be restored or replenished by natural processes and, therefore, are depleted through use; include coal, oil, natural gas, and uranium
renewable energy resources energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat, which are naturally replenished
solar energy energy (in the form of heat & light )from the sun
hydroelectric power electricity produced by flowing water
biomass fuels fuels made from things that were once alive such as plants (like wood), food wastes, manure
geothermal energy heat energy in Earth's interior produced by water or steam that has been heated by magma
nuclear energy energy released by nuclear reactions; can be considered as both renewable & non-renewable energy source
energy conversation reducing energy use
alternative energy resources energy resources derived from a natural source, such as the sun, wind, tides, or waves; also called renewable energy resources
