What is the advantage of the scientific method? It's unbiased. One doesn't have to believe another scientist. They can redo the experiment themselves.
def. of hypotheses suggested explanation, theory or reason that something is the way it is. MUST BE TESTABLE
def. of control group group under normal circumstances
def. of experimental group the group being manipulated
def. of variables the things that have an effect on the experiment.
What are the 3 different variables you need to know in your experiment? Independent, dependent, and controlled.
controlled variables all the factors that are kept the same for all the groups in the experiment
Independent variable the variable you purposely manipulate. They're the changes that caused directly by the experimenter.
Dependent variable the variable that is being observed, or that depends on the other variables.

what are the metri system units? kilo, hecto, deka, unit, deci, centi, milli, and micro.
What are the quantities measured in science? length, volume, mass, time, and temperature.

volume amount of space taken up by object
length distance between two points
What is the Base-10 system? A system in which each unit is 10 times bigger than the previous one.
The scientific method is based on ____, _____, and _____. logic, reason, and experimentaion. (REQUIRES EVIDENCE)
Observation a description that you make based on your sensing of the world (taste, touch, hear, see, etc.)
qualitative descriptions that do not use numbers. reports colors, tastes, textures, and sound.
quantitative descriptions that include numbers
subjective observations based on opinion or based on who, makes the observation.
objective unbiased descriptions.
Inference an attempted explanation based on observation.
What are the 7 steps for the scientific method? observe, research, create hypotheses, design/conduct experiment, analyze data, conclude based on data, and do it again.
What should the title of a graph include? a specific idea about the graph. It should be placed above the graph
What axis should the independent variable go on? the x-axis
What axis should the dependent variable be placed on? the y-axis
What is the legend on a graph? the key. It's also a short desriptive narrative concerning the graohs data. It should be a short and to the point, and should be placed directly under the graph.
How do you calulate percent and error? actual - observed __________________ actual
