| action potential | neural impulse - electrical charge |
| threshold | the level of stimulation required to trigger a neural impulse |
| synapse | cell body of the receiving neuron |
| neurotransmitters | chemical messengers that cross the synaptic gaps. Influences whether neuron will generate neural impulse. |
