TermDefinition
Mineral is a naturally occurring, inorganic solid, with a specific chemical composition and definite crystalline structure.
Crystal is a solid in which the atoms are arranged in repeating patterns.
Luster the way that mineral reflects light from its surface
Hardness is a measure of how easily a mineral can be scratched
Cleavage a mineral that splits relatively easily and evenly along one or more flat planes
Fracture minerals that break with rough or jagged edges
Streak is the color of a mineral when it is broken up and powdered
Specific gravity which is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of an equal volume of waters at 4'C
