What does the placenta do? nourishment, blood, carries out waste.
What are the characteristics that make things primates? 1. ability to use hands or feet for grasping 2. flat finger nails 3.short jaws 4.flat facing eyes, large brain 5.parental care and social behavior
what are the two main groups of primates? Prosimians and Anthropoids
What animals are prosimians? lemurs, bushbabies, and tarsiers. Most are nocturnal and predators.
What animals are Anthropoids? monkeys and apes
What is required to be a Anthropoid? opposable thumbs
What are the groups of Anthropoids? New and Old world Monkeys, Apes, Homonins
New World Monkeys Are arboreal with prehensile tails. Isolated to SA
Arboreal lives in trees
Old World Monkeys Aboreal or ground dwellers, no prehensile tails. Africa and Asia
Apes long arms, short legs, and no tails. Africa and SE Asia
Hominions bipedal locomotion, larger brain, reduced jaw, shorter digestive track. Any organsims that is more closley related to a human than a chimpanzee. Spine attatchment beneath skull, short and broad pelvic bones for support.
What did humans not evolve from? Apes, but they do share a common ancestor
