Cell membrane | Selectively controls entry in and out of the cell |
Cell wall | Thick, rigid, layer that surrounds the plant cell |
Cytoplasm | Fluid that fills the cell |
Chloroplasts | Food producer for plant cell, converts energy from the sun into sugar(glucose) |
Golgi apparatus | Aids in modification, packaging, and distribution of proteins of the cell |
Mitochondria | Produces energy to fuel the cells activities |
Microtubules | Found in cytoplasm, carry out functions ranging from transport to structural support, conveyer belt |
Nucleoplasm | Fluid found in the nucleus |
Nuclear membrane | Membrane that surrounds the nucleus |
Nucleolus | Part of nucleus that makes the parts needed to build a ribosome |
Ribosomes | Small organelles composed of RNA rich cytoplasmic granules that are sites of protein synthesis |
Rough endoplasmic reticulum | Covered with ribosomes, transports materials through the cell and produces proteins |
Smooth endoplasmic reticulum | Transports materials, enzymes, produces and digests lipids (Fat), and membrane proteins |
Vacuole | Large fluid filled space inside the plant cell |
Nucleus | Holds genetic information (DNA) for the cell |
Lysosomes | Breaks down old or unneeded parts of the cell |
prokayote | a single celled organism that doesn't have a nucleus |
eukaryote | cell that has a distinct nucleus |
circulatory system | system that transports materials throughout the body |
respiratory system | system that takes in oxygen and releases carbon dioxide |
skeletal system | system that provides support and protection |
muscular system | system that aids in movement |
digestive system | system that breaks down food into energy for the body |
excretory system | system that removes excess waste |
reproductive system | system that allows us to reproduce |
integumentary system | system that protects us (skin) |
nervous system | system that controls our body |
endocrine system | system of glands that produces hormones |
immune system | system that protects the body from foreign substances |
