Oceanography The study of earth's oceans,which cover nearly three-fourths of the planet

Atmosphere The blanket of gases that surrounds our planet
Hydrosphere All the water on earth,including the water in the atmosphere,makes up
Biosphere Includes all organism on earth as well as the environments in which they live
Scientific method A series of problem-solving procedures that help scientists conduct experiments
Hypothesis A testable explanation of a situation that can be supported or disproved by careful procedures
Independent variable An experiment is the affected by changes in the independent variable
Dependent variable A factor that is affected by changes in the independent variable
Control An experiment to show that the results of an experiment are a result of the condition being tested

Scientific notation A number expressed as a value between 1 and 10 multiplied by a power of 10
