TermDefinition
Element Substance made of one type of atom; all organized on the periodic table.
Compound Substance made of two or more elements that are chemically combined (bonded).
Mixture Substance made of two or more things that are NOT chemically combined - they are just mixed together.
Organic Compound Compounds frequently associated with living things or products of living things. Contains carbon and other elements such as H, O, P, N, and S.
Inorganic Compounds Compounds associated with non-living things. Do not contain a large amount of carbon.
Elements commonly found in organic compounds C, H, O, P, N, S (Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, phosphorous, nitrogen, sulfur)
