What is inquiry? A search for information, and explanation that is focused on specific questions
What is discovery science? Discovery science describes natural structures and processes as accurately as possible through careful observation and analysis of data
What is data? Recorded obsevations
What is qualitative data? Recorded descriptions
What is quantitative data? Recorded measurements
What is inductive reasoning? It derives generalizations based on a huge number of specific observations
What is a hypothesis? A tentative answer to a well-framed question
What is deductive reasoning? Specific conclusions based on generalizations
What is a testable hypothesis? A hypothesis that asks a question that can be tested and validated
What is a falsifiable hypothesis? A hypothesis that can be proven wrong and untrue
What is an experimental group? The group that gets exposed to the experimenting
What is a control group? The group that has nothing happen to them and doesn't undergo anything
What is a scientific model? A graph, diagram, 3-D figure,computer program, or a mathematical problem that is demonstrating scientific data?
What is a theory? A theory has a much broader scope, is more of a general statement, and can be backed up by massive amounts of evidence
