| What is discovery science? | Discovery science describes natural structures and processes as accurately as possible through careful observation and analysis of data |
| What is data? | Recorded obsevations |
| What is qualitative data? | Recorded descriptions |
| What is quantitative data? | Recorded measurements |
| What is inductive reasoning? | It derives generalizations based on a huge number of specific observations |
| What is a hypothesis? | A tentative answer to a well-framed question |
| What is deductive reasoning? | Specific conclusions based on generalizations |
| What is a testable hypothesis? | A hypothesis that asks a question that can be tested and validated |
| What is a falsifiable hypothesis? | A hypothesis that can be proven wrong and untrue |
| What is an experimental group? | The group that gets exposed to the experimenting |
| What is a control group? | The group that has nothing happen to them and doesn't undergo anything |
| What is a scientific model? | A graph, diagram, 3-D figure,computer program, or a mathematical problem that is demonstrating scientific data? |
| What is a theory? | A theory has a much broader scope, is more of a general statement, and can be backed up by massive amounts of evidence |
