TermDefinition
Radiation The transfer of energy through matter or space as electromagnetic waves, such as visible light and infrared waves
Visible Light Spectrum The portion of the electromagnetic spectrum visible to human eye
Wavelength The distance between any two corresponding points that are adjacent on a wave
Big Bang Theory A theory stating the universe began as a small point that expanded rapidly about 13.7 billion years ago
Blue Shift The displacement of the spectrum of an approaching celestial body toward shorter wavelengths (moving away from us)
Red Shift wavelength is toward red end of spectrum meaning object is moving toward us
Electromagnetic Spectrum Vast arrangement of electromagnetic waves (infrared to ultraviolet) in relation to their wavelengths
Frequency How often something happens
Oscillating Theory A cosmological model combining both the Big Bang and the Big Crunch as part of a cyclical event
