The left and right vertebral arteries unite to form the ? Basilar artery
The basilar artery feeds into what structure of blood vessels that feed the brain? The Circle of Willis
What veins drain blood out of the head? External and internal jugulars
Where does the blood that empties into the external jugular veins come from? Back of the head and neck
Where does the blood that empties into the internal jugular veins come from? Brain, face, front of head and neck
Where do the external and internal jugular veins empty into? Brachiocephalic veins
The subclavian veins empty into what? Brachiocephalic vein on each side of the body
The external and internal carotids and the vertebral arteries all feed into the head and/or brain. Which is the most medial? Vertebral arteries
The external and internal carotids and the vertebral arteries all feed into the head and/or brain. Which is the most lateral? External carotid arteries
The arteries that come directly from the heart to feed blood to both arms are called ? Subclavian arteries
The subclavian arteries in the arms feed into what arteries? Axillary arteries
The axillary arteries, which come from the subclavian arteries, feed blood into what arteries? Brachial arteries
The brachial artery branches at the elbow into what 2 arteries? Ulnar and radial arteries
Between the ulnar and radial arteries that run through the forearms, which feeds most directly into the thumb? Radial arteries
The palmar digital veins are in the ? Fingers
The palmar digital veins drain into the palmar ? Arch
The palmar arch branches into what 2 veins? Ulnar and radial veins
The ulnar and radial veins empty into which vein? Brachial
The brachial vein empties into which vein? Axillary
In each arm, the axillary vein empties into the __ vein near the heart? Subclavian vein
The vein in the arm that runs parallel and external to the basilic vein is called the ? Cephalic vein
Which vein connects the cephalic vein to the basilic vein? Medial cubital vein
After passing through the aortic arch, blood flows to the abdominal and lower areas of the body through the ? Descending aorta
As you proceed toward the feet, the descending aorta becomes the ? Abdominal aorta
Going down (inferiorly) toward the feet, the first major artery that comes off from the abdominal aorta is called the ? Celiac trunk
The celiac trunk feeds what abdominal organs? The stomach, pancreas, spleen, upper duodenum, liver
What major artery feeds off from the abdominal aorta inferiorly from the celiac? Superior mesentaric
What abdominal organs does the superior mesentaric artery feed? Small intestine, upper portion of the colon
Lateral to the mesentaric arteries (on either side of them) the abdominal artery feeds into what 2 arteries? Renal arteries
The renal arteries go to the ? Kidneys
Going down the abdominal aorta, the next major pair of arteries that come after the renal and superior mesentaric arties are called? Testicular/ovarian arteries (Not on list of required arteries...I would know it anyway)
Going downward, what major artery that is fed by the abdominal aorta that is inferior to the testicular/ovarian arteries and the superior mesentaric artery? Inferior mesentaric artery
What abdominal organ does the inferior mesentaric artery feed? Lower part of the colon
The abdominal aorta splits at the L5 vertebra into 2 arteries, which are called ? Common iliac arteries
Both the left and right common iliac arteries branch off into 2 arteries, which are called ? Internal and external iliac arteries
Do the internal or external iliac arteries feed the legs with blood? External
As the external iliac arteries travel down the body, they become what arteries in the thigh? Femoral
As the femoral arteries proceed down the leg, the become what as they go back behind the knee? Popliteal
The popliteal artery proceeds down the leg and becomes what artery that runs behind the lower leg? Posterior tibial artery
The popliteal artery proceeds down the leg and becomes what artery that runs toward the front of the lower leg? Anterior tibial artery
The anterior tibial artery becomes what artery at the ankle? Dorsalis pedis artery
The dorsal digital arteries direct blood into the ? Toes (Not on list of required arteries, I would know it anyway)
Blood flows out of the foot into the lower leg to return to the heart via what veins? Anterior and posterior tibial veins
The anterior and posterior veins drain into what vein? Popliteal
The popliteal vein drains into the ? Femoral vein
Another way to trace blood returning from the foot to the femoral vein is the ? Great saphenous vein
If the great saphenous vein is medial on the body (it runs along the inside leg), what is its lateral counterpart that runs along the outside of the lower leg and drains into the upper popliteal vein? Small saphenous vein
Both the popliteal vein and the great saphenous vein drain into what vein? Femoral
The femoral vein of the upper leg drains into what vein? External iliac vein
Heading upward toward the heart, the external iliac vein drains into what vein? Common iliac vein
Like the external iliac vein, the internal iliac vein drains into what vein? Common iliac vein
The common iliac vein drains into what vein? Abdomonial vein (not on list of veins)
The abdominal vein drains into the ? Inferior vena cava
The inferior vena cava drains into what organ? Heart
The internal iliac veins drain from what areas of the body? pelvis
What vein enters the liver? Hepatic portal vein
What vein leaves the liver? Hepatic vein
The hepatic vein drains into? Inferior vena cava
The superior mesenteric vein drains from the ? Small intestine and upper colon
The superior mesenteric vein becomes the ? Hepatic portal vein
The inferior mesenteric vein goes from the colon to the ? Splenic vein
The splenic vein drains from what 2 organs? Spleen and pancreas
The left and right gastric veins go into the ? Hepatic portal vein
The hepatic veins drain into the ? Inferior vena cava
NOTE: You may need to skip the abdominal vein on blood tracings since they are not mentioned on the list of vessels we are responsible for knowing. That means you go to the inferior vena cava instead of the abdominal vein. The abdominal artery IS on the list, however.
