Heart Blocks

QuestionAnswer
HEART BLOCK OCCURES IN THE SA NODE & VENTRICULAR CONDUCTION AREA. BLOCKS THAT PREVENT OR RETARD THE PASSAGE OF DEPOLARIZATION
SA BLOCK THE SA NODE STOPS PACING FOR AT LEAST ONE COMPLETE CYCLE, BUT THEN IT RESUMES PACING WITH IDENTICAL BEATS PRIOR TO THE PAUSE.
AV BLOCK(ATRIO-VENTRICULAR) When THE PR INTERVAL IS PROLONGED. MEASURED FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE P WAVE(Atrial depolarixation)TO THE BEGINNING OF THE QRS COMPLEX(Ventricular depolorization)
AV BLOCK SOME KIND OF AV BLOCK IS PRESENT IF THE PR INTERVAL IS LARGER THAN ONE LARGE SQUARE .20
FIRST DEGREE AV BLOCK PR INTERVAL IS .20 OR MORE AND CONSISTANT IN EVERY CYCLE
SECOND DEGREE BLOCKS (SA NODE-STILL DOING IT'S JOB) 2 DIFFERENT FROMS:WENCKEBACH OR MOBITZ
2ND DEGREE MOBITZ MAY APPEAR (AT A NORMAL SINUS RATE) AS 2 P WAVE TO 1 QRS COMPLEX RESPONCE THROUGHOUT THE RHYTHM-QRS COMPLEXA P WAVE WITH A DROPPED
2ND DEGREE WENCKBACH WHEN THE PR INTERVALS PROGRESSIVLEY GETS LONGER WITH EACH CYCLE UNTIL THE AV NODE WILL NOLONGER CONDUCT A STIMULUS FROM ABOVE AND DROP A QRS COMPLEX 2-8 BEATS
3RD DEGREE AV BLOCK OR COMPLETE AV BLOCK TOTAL BLOCK IS WHEN NONE OF THE ATRIAL DEPOLARIZATION CONDUCTION TO THE VENTRICLES. YOU WILL HAVE AN INDEPENDENT ATRIAL RATE VS YOUR VENTRICULAR RATE. JUNCTIONAL FOCUS-40-60 VENTRICULAR FOCUS 20-40
BUNDLE BRANCH BLOCK WHEN THESE IS A BLOCK OF THEIR R/L BUNDLE BRANCH 1 VENTRICLE DEPOLORIZES SLIGHTLY BEFORE THE OTHER-YOU MUST HAVE WIDENED QRS INTERVAL OF .12 OR MORE WITH 2 R WAVES
RIGHT BUNDLE BRACNCH BLOCK DOUBLE R WAVES AND A QRS INTERVAL OF .12 OR MORE IN LEADS V1 AND V2
LEFT BUNDLE BRANCH BLOCK DOUBLE R WAVES AND A QRS INTERVAL OF .12 OR MORE IN LEADS V5, AND V6
INCOMPLETE BBB IF YOU DONT HAVE BOTH THE DOUBLE R WAVES AND THE WIDE QRS
HOW DO WE MEASURE QRS INTERVAL THE AMOUNT OF SMALL BOXES THE WIDTH OF THE BASE OF THE QRS COMPLEX

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
