Study compare 11 year old normal children with 11 year old autistic children in regards to emotion recognition using the eye and mouth. What did they find? What was found with adolescent and young adults with autism compared to normal adolescents and young adults in regards to eye or mouth looking and their social adjustment Autistics look more at mouths & normallook more at eyes. Autistics have better social adjust.t when looking at mouth & autistics looking at eyes isn't associated with better adjustment cos they dont gain social info as not able to interpret info from eyes
So why do adolescent autistics not have better social adjustment when looking at eyes? Because they dont gain social information because are not able to interpret this information from the eyes
Most deaf children grow up in families where parents and siblings are not what? proficient signers
What is the issue with theory of mind and deafness in children? Deaf children are often born into families who aren't signers. So because one way kids learn about mental states is through mother talk and thus deaf baby misses out on information during critical period that teaches them ToM.

To rate Williams, Downs and Autistic kids on how sociable they are how did they do the study? And what were the results? Parents gave evaluation of how sociable kids are with strangers. Williams kids are more sociable with strangers than Autism and Downs and Autism and Downs are about the same amount of sociability.
