TermDefinition
Central Nervous System Brain and spinal cord, serves as the main processing system for the whole nervous system
Neurons Nerve cell that conducts electrical signals through the body
Sensory Nervous system transmits impulses from sense organs to the central nervous system
Motor nervous system transmits impulses from the central nervous system out to the body's muscles and glands
Peripheral Nervous systme Made up of neurons and sends information to the central nervous system
Endocrine system Sends hormones which come in contact with your body's cells
How do the Respiratory and Circulatory systems work together? Work together to carry oxygen to the body's cell and remove carbon dioxide from those cells
Circulatory system Delivers oxygen through the body. Removes carbon dioxide. Fights disease and seals cuts
Systolic pressure Maximum pressure exerted when the heart pumps out
Diastolic pressure Minimum pressure exerted when the heart is relaxed

Liver Produces bile, liquid loaded with lipids and salts.
Gallbladder This is where bile is stored
Excretory System Skin, lungs, liver, and kidneys
Skeletal System Protection, support, movement, mineral storage, and blood cell formation.
Integumentary System Skin (largest organ) is part of this system. Nails, glands, and hair are included. Offers protection, excretion, body temperature regulation, gathering information, and Vitamin D production.
Sperm Productoin Sperm is produced in the testes, then stored in the epididymis. Then during ejaculation, sperm is propelled out this into the vas deferens a duct that merges with the urethra. The urethra is a tube that leads out of the penis.
Female reproduction system Eggs are produced in the ovary. The Fallopian tube transports the egg to the uterus.
Blastocyst fertilized cells forms into a hollow ball after several divisions
Gastrulation Development of skin and nervous system, muscles, bones, and blood cells.
Neuraltion First step in the development of the nervous system
External nonspecific defense Skin, saliva, and mucus
Internal nonspecific defense Inflammatory response, white blood cells, and fever
Immune System Antigens on pathogens enter the body. The corresponding antibodies bind to these antigens and make it possible for lymphocytes to destroy it.
