| Weather | The condition of the atmosphere at any given time in a particular area. (Pg 126) |
| Wind | The movement of air due to differences in air pressure. (Pg. 126) |
| Sea breeze | A local wind that blows from an ocean or sea toward land. (Pg. 128) |
| Land breeze | A local wind that blows from the land toward a body of water. (Pg. 129) |
| Doldrums | A relatively calm area near the equator where warm air rises. (Pg. 131) |
| Horse latitudes | A relatively calm area located near both 30 degree latitudes where cool air sinks. (Pg. 131) |
| Trade winds | The winds that blow easterly from both 30 degree latitudes toward the equator. (Pg. 131) |
| Westerlies | The winds found between the 30 degree and 60 degree latitudes that blow from west to east. (Pg. 131) |
