| biotic factors | the living parts of an organism's habitat. | Such as, ferrets, eagles, worms, etc. |

| population density | the number of individuals in an area of a specific size. | Example: if you were to catch 20 butterflies in a garden measuring 10 square meters, the population density would be 20 butterflies per 10 square meters. |
| limiting factor | an environmental factor that causes a population to stop growing or decreasing in size. | Example: Hurricanes, tornadoes, cold weather, etc. |
| carrying capacity | the largest population that an area can support. | Example: the carrying capacity of a giraffe habitat would be ten giraffes. |
