What is latitude? is horizontal lines on a map that measure distance north or south of the Equator
What is Longitude? is vertical lines on a map that measure distance east or west of the Prime Meridian
What line is expressed at latitude? Equator
What line is expressed at longitude? Prime Meridian
What are contour lines? connect points of equal elevation and make closed circles.
What do the V's represent? Contour lines make “V’s” that point upstream (to higher elevations) of rivers and creeks.
What is a topographic map showing? large scale detail in a map
What is a map profile? are side views of land on a topographic map.
What shows direction? Compass rose
What do circles inside each other mean? If closed circle are inside of each other and become smaller when going up hill or mountain on a topographic map.
