How is the weather created? Weather is created by the transfer of heat between the surface of the Earth and the atmosphere.
What four major factors affect the climate? Elevation, proximity to ocean, proximity to mountains and latitude
What is a tornado? Tornadoes are narrow, violent, cone like spirals of winds that stretch from a cloud to the Earth's surface.
What is a hurricane? hurricanes are tropical cyclones with sustained winds above 75 mph or higher
How do winds move? from high pressure to low pressure.
True or False, weather cannot be predicted by cloud type. False, weather can be predicted by cloud type.
What can warm temperatures cause? thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hail
How are winds created? 7. Winds are created by uneven heating of the Earth’s surface and modified by the Coriolis Effect which is caused by the Earth’s rotation
How is the atmosphere warmed? by convection, warm air rises, cool air lowers
At what angle do areas around the equator receive sunlight? at 90%
