What is the theory of how the Earth formed? Big Bang theory is most widely accepted theory for how universe formed
What is a Solar Nebula? It is a huge cloud of dust, gas, and ice
What do all stars start as? They all are Solar Nebulas that collapse.
All stars are finite and evolve. What determines how a star evolves? The Mass does
What is the lifetime of a small star? Less massive stars order: 1. Nebula, 2. protostar, 3 main sequence star (born), 4. white dwarf, 5. black dwarf (death)
What is the lifespan of a relatively large star? More massive stars order: Nebula, 2. protostar, 3 main sequence star (born), 4. supernova, 5. neutron star (death). Most massive stars will follow this path but after supernova they will become black holes.
True or False: The brighter the star the hotter the star True
What is our sun's life span? It is about 12 billion years
What are Supergiants? They are large stars. That are bright because of there mass but et are cooler.
What are Galaxies? Galaxies are collections of billions of stars. The basic types are spiral, elliptical (football shaped) and irregular. Our solar system is part of the Milky Way which is a spiral galaxy
What are Black holes? are the end of the life cycle of some supergiant stars.
What does a black hole do in a galaxy? 11. Black holes in the middle of the galaxies allow the stars to gain velocity as they move toward the black hole. This velocity allows the stars to orbit around and away from this center of mass, not be sucked into them as believed by most.
