What are the periods of Geologic time called? Precambrian, Paleozoic, Mesozoic, Cenozoic
What is a fossil? the remains, impression or other evidence preserved in rocks of the existence of former life.
What is a half-life? life is the length of time it takes for ½ (half) of the mass of a radioactive element (parent material) to change into a new stable (non-radioactive) element (daughter product).
What is an index fossil? are fossils of plants or animals that were abundant, widespread and were lived on this Earth a relatively short period of time
What is relative dating? places orders in sequence without assigning an exact age.
What is superposition? states that the oldest rock layers are on the bottom and the layers above are younger with the top layer being the youngest
How are Ice ages started? may be caused by the tilt of the Earth become greater
What caused the extinction of the Mesozoic era? Meteor
How long ago was the Cenozoic era? 65 mya-present
How long was the Mesozoic Era? 252.2 to 66 million years ago
