What is so unique about atmosphere? because atmosphere contains substantial amounts of oxygen
what did early photosynthetic plant life do for the earth? algae consumed carbon dioxide and increased the amount of oxygen did animal life become possible (evolved)
What do plants and animals do for the atmosphere? carbon sinks (reduces the amount of carbon dioxide). Carbon dioxide is readily absorbed by oceans helping reduce the amount of atmosphere in the atmosphere
What factors can control and change climates? 7. Climate is controlled and changed by a number of factors such as reflectivity of the surface, the amount and types of gases in the atmosphere, amount of cloud cover, volcanic eruptions, vegetation cover and meteor impacts.
what are the negative effects of meteor impacts? Meteor impacts can place huge amounts of dust in the air and can set off forest fires and may also increase the amount of volcanic eruptions on Earth. This is what is thought to have made the dinosaurs go extinct.
What is does Earth's atmosphere currently consist of? it consist 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% trace gases
What is the main cause of composition change in the atmosphere? Human activity, that consist of burning of fossil fuels and man made chemicals (CFC) reduce the amount of ozone in the atmosphere.
Why are areas with vegetation hot and humid? Vegetation absorbs more heat than non-vegetated areas
What does oxidation do? (metals and animals)it's when oxygen sinks which reduce the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere
What's the difference b/w Venus's and Mercury's atmospheres? Mercury has no atmosphere therefore no greenhouse effect. Venus has high amounts of carbon dioxide in its atmosphere and has runaway greenhouse effect and is very hot
