What creates weather? The transfer of heat energy between the Earth;s surface and atmosphere.
What is weather? The current state of the atmosphere or day to day changes.
What is climate? The average weather patterns in certain locations over a long period of time.
What are the four major factors that effect climate. Latitude, Elevation, Proximity to oceans, and Position relative to mountains.
What are the 3 major climatic zones? Tropical, Temperate, and Polar.
How are winds created? They are created by the uneven heating of the earth's surface.
What warms the atmosphere? Convection currents, radiation, and conduction of hot and cool molecules.
What type of air has less density? Warm air
When is there a cold front? When warm air is pushed above the cool air.
When is a warm front present? When warm air replaces the cool air.
What do warm fronts cause? Long periods of light to moderate rain over large areas,and increased temperatures after the rain
What do cold fronts cause? Short periods of large precipitation, dangerous storms, and cold weather afterwards.
