What creates weather? The transfer of energy(heat) between the Earth's surface and atmosphere.
What are the 3 major climate zones? Tropical, temperate and polar.
Is it true that Earth's surface is heated bu the sun more efficiently than the atmosphere? Yes.
What is created by uneven heating of the Earth's surface and modified by the Coriolis Effect. Winds
What causes the Coriolis Effect? The Earth's rotation.
What are narrow, violent, funnel-shaped columns of spiral winds that extend downwards from a cloud toward the earth? Tornadoes.
How is the atmosphere warmed? By convection. Warm, less dense air rises and warms the air around it. It cools and sinks to be warmed again.
What is predicted by using cloud type? Weather.
Describe a stratus cloud. Layered clouds that cover the whole sky, and means precipitation and cooler temperatures.
What are the 4 major factors that affect climate? Latitude, elevation, proximity to oceans and position relative to mountains.
