QuestionAnswer
How is weather created? By the transferring of energy (heat) between the Earth's surface and atmosphere
What does Weather do? Describes the current state of the atmosphere or day to day changes in atmospheric conditions
What does Climate do? Describes the typical (average) weather patterns of certain locations over a period of many years
What are the four major factors that affect climate? Latitude, elevation, proximity to oceans and position relative to mountains
What are the three major climatic zones? tropical, temperate, and polar
Name one way weather can be predicted Cloud type
Where does Continental Polar (cP) come from? Canada
Where does Maritime Polar (mP) come from? North Atlantic or North Pacific
Where does Continental Tropical (cT) come from? Mexico
What is a jet stream? A fast moving river of wind that is found at the top of the troposphere or at the bottom of the stratosphere
