What is a jet stream? A fast moving river of wind that is found at the top of the troposphere or at the bottom of the stratosphere
What type of pressure systems ride on the jet stream? Low pressure systems
What warms atmosphere? Convection
What direction do pressure systems spin? High pressure systems-Spin clockwise Low pressure systems-Spin counterclockwise
What creates weather? Transfer of energy(heat) between the Earth's surface and atmosphere.
What are the three major climatic zones? Tropical, Temperate, and Polar
What four major factors affect climate? Latitde, elevation, proximity to oceans, and position relative to mountains
What do air masses have? A temperature and humidity component
What is an air mass? A parcel of air that takes on the qualities of the surface it forms over
Where does Continental Tropical come from? Mexico and are warm and dry.
