What are the three major climatic zones? Tropical (0 to 30 degrees); Temperate (30 to 60 degrees) & Polar (60 to 90 degrees)
What are the four major factors that affect climate? Latitude, elevation, proximity to oceans & position relative to mountains.
What do global wind patterns develop from? Uneven heating of the surface
What is the atmosphere warmed by? Convection & conduction
Warmer temperatures increase convection which forms what? Clouds
Warm air and cold air, which one is less dense? Warm air
What is a jet stream? A fast moving river of wind
Once convection causes warm air to reach its dew point what happens? The air condenses
Areas near what receive sunlight at the highest angle and have more energy? Areas near the equator
