Choroplast structure in a plant cell that makes the food through photosynthesis
Chromosomes structure located in the nucleus of a cell, made of DNA, that contains the genetic info needed to carry out cell functions and make new cells
Cytoplasm gel-like fluid that takes up most of the space inside a cell
Endoplasmic Reticulum structure in a cell that is involved in making proteins and transporting material
Golgi Bodies cell structure that helps package and distribute products within a cell
Mitochondia structure in a cell that transforms food into energy
Nuclear Membrane structure that surrounds and protects the nucleus
Nucleus structure near the center of the cell that directs cell activity

Vacuole fluid-filled structure that holds water or substances needed by the cell
Prokaryote A microscopic single-celled organism that has neither a distinct nucleus with a membrane nor other specialized organelles
Eukaryote A single-celled or multicellular organism whose cells contain a distinct membrane-bound nucleus
Mitosis A type of cell division that results in two daughter cells each the same as the parent nucleus, typical of ordinary tissue growth
Meiosis A type of cell division that results in two daughter cells each with half the chromosome number of the parent cell
Monomer A simple molecule that can join together to form a macro-molecule(polymer). building blocks of polymers
Polymer A substance that is built up of a # of similar molecular units that are bonded together. Polymers can be either a natural or synthetic compound

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
