| What is a Solar Nebula? | A Solar Nebula is huge, vast clouds of ice, gas and dust. |
| What controls how a star evolves? | Mass (Size) |
| What is the order for less massive stars? | 1. Nebula, 2. Protostar, 3. Main Sequence Star (Born), 4. White Dwarf, 5. Black Dwarf (Death) |
| What is the order for more massive stars? | 1. Nebula, 2. Protostar, 3. Main Sequence Star (Born), 4. Supernova, 5. Neutron Star (Death) (After Supernova is Black Hole) |
| What does the Hertzsprung - Russell (H-R) diagram show? | It shows the relationship between absolute magnitude (brightness) in relation to their surface temperatures. |
| What is the most widely accepted theory on how solar system and stars form? | The Solar Nebular Theory |
| What are the basic types of galaxies and how long do they take to collect? | The basic types of galaxies are spiral, elliptical(football shaped) and irregular. And galaxies take billions of years to collect. |
| What galaxy is our solar system a part of? | Our solar system is part of the spiral Milky Way. |
| What is a Light-Year? | A Light-Year is the distance light travels in one year. It is the most common unit of measurement used in astronomy. |
| What is the order of the planets from the Sun? | Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune |
| What are asteroids? | Asteroids are pieces of a broken planet and are found int he Asteroid Belt which is between Mars and Jupiter. |
| How many moons are their for Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars? | There are no moons for Mercury and Venus, one moon for Earth, and two captured moons, or asteroids, for Mars. |
| What are comets made up of and where do their tails point? | Comets orbit the Sun and are made up of frozen gases. The comet's tail always point away from the Sun because of the solar wind (radiating heat waves). |
| What are Meteoroids? | Meteoroids are left over pieces of a comet's tail floating in space. |
| What is a Meteor? | Meteors are when the peices eneter the Earth's atmosphere where they burn up. |
| What is a Solstice? | A Solstice is when the sun is at its most northern point(over the Tropic of Cancer) or at its most southern point (over the Tropic of Cancer). |
| What is the Summer Solstice? | It's the longest day, shortest night and is on June 21st/first day of summer. |
| What is the Winter Solstice? | It's the shortest day, longest night and is on December 21st/first day of winter. |
| What is the difference between a Lunar and Solar Eclipse? | A Lunar Eclipse is when the Earth blocks and Moon and casts a shadow. A Solar Eclipse is when the Moon blocks the Earth and casts a shadow. |
