TermDefinition
Conservation Careful use of resources to reduce damage to the environment through such methods as composting and recycling materials.
Depletion To decrease seriously or to exhaust the abundance of supply.
Nonrenewable Natural resources, such as fossil fuels, that cannot be replaced by natural processes as quickly as it is used.
Renewable Natural resources, such as water, sunlight, and crops that are constantly being recycled or replaced by nature.
Consequences The effects, results, or outcome of something occurring earlier.
Energy Transformation The transformation of energy from forms provided by nature to forms that can be used by humans.
Solar Energy The energy received by the Earth from the sun. This energy is in the form of solar radiation, which makes the production of solar electricity possible.
Geothermal Energy Thermal energy generated and stored in the Earth.
Chemical Energy A form of potential energy that is stored in chemical bonds between atoms.
Potential Energy Energy that is stored and available to be used later.
Kinetic Energy The form of energy that an object has when it is moving.
Thermal Energy Total energy of all the particles of an object.
