cell wall The stiff structure outside the cell membrane in a plant cell;provides support.
chloroplasts An organelle located in the cytoplasm in plant cells that contains chlorophyll.
chromosomes Located in the nucleus, they contain the code that controls the cell and transmits heredity characteristics.
cytoplasm A jelly-like substance filling the cell that provides energy in the cell.
Endoplasmic Reticulum An organelle found throughout the cytoplasm that transports.
Golgi Bodies An organelle that manufactures and moves material in the cytoplasm of a cell.
Mitochondria An organelle in the cytoplasm that produces energy in the cell.
Nuclear Membrane A thin layer that surrounds the nucleus and separates it from the rest of the cell.
Nucleus The control center for most of a cell's activities.
Ribosomes An organelle located on the E.R. that provides protein for the cells.
Vacuole An organelle in the cytoplasm that stores water food, and wastes in a cell that helps get rid of waste.
Prokaryote A group of organisms without a nucleus, mitochondria, and chloroplasts.
Eukaryote A group of organisms that contains a nucleus.
Mitosis Process where once cell divides resulting in two identical cells, each containing the same number of chromosomes and genes.
Meiosis Reproducing organisms that reduces the number of chromosomes in reproductive cell.
Monomer Small and simple cells that bond together to form a polymer.
Polymer A long-chained molecule that is composed of individual units, called monomers.
Carbohydrates Organic compounds, and chemically they consist of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.
lipids Lipids(or fats) are energy-rich compounds made of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen.
