what is erosion? the process by which natural forces move weathered rock and soil from one place to another.
what is sediment? the material moved by erosion.
what is deposition? occurs where the agents erosion, deposit, or lay down.
what is gravity? is the force that moves rock and other materials downhill.
what is mass movement? any one of several processes that move sediment downhill.
what is a runoff? is water that moves over Earth´s surface.
what are rills? it forms tiny groves in the soil.
what is a stream? is a channel along which water is continually flowing down a slope.
what is a tributary? is a stream or river that flows into a larger river.
what is a flood plain? the flat, wide area of land along a river.
what is a meander? is a loop-like bend in the course of a river.
what is a oxbow lake? is a mender that has been cut off from the river.
what is a alluvail fan? is a wide, sloping deposit of sediment formed where a stream leaves a mountain range.
what is a delta? sediment deposited where a river flows into an ocean or lake builds up a land-form.
what is groundwater? is the term geologists use for this underground water.
what is a stalactite? a deposit that hangs like an icicle from the roof of a cave.
what is a stalagmite? its a slow dripping builds up.
what is karst topography? the roof of a cave collapses because of the erosion of the underlying limestone, the result is a depression called a sinkhole. its a type of landscape.
what is energy? is the ability to do work or cause change.
what is potential energy? is energy that is stored and waiting to be used later.
what is kinetic energy? is the energy an object has to its motion.
what is abrasion? is the wearing away of rock by a grinding action.
what is friction? is the force that opposes the motion of one surface as it movers across another surface.
what is turbulence? the water moves every which way in a type of movement.
