| fracture | is a break on the mineral along jagged, rough, and uneven edges |
| hardness | a test done to see how easily a mineral can be scratched |
| luster | how the mineral reflects light either by nonmetallic and metallic |
| magma | hot, melted rock material beneath Earth's surface |
| silicate | mineral that contains silicon and oxygen and usually one or more other elements |
