| condensation | the process by which a gas changes back into a liquid |
| precipitation | any form of water that falls from clouds, such as rain or snow |
| transpiration cycle | the process in which plants give off water through their stomata |
| carbon dioxide cycle | the process by which carbon and oxygen cycle among plants, animals, and the environment |
| nitrogen cycle | the cycle in which nitrogen gas is changed into forms of nitrogen that plants can use |
| mineral | a naturally occurring nonrenewable solid substance having a definite composition and having the characteristics of being hard, soft, shiny, or magnetic |
| igneous | a type of rock that was formed by extreme heat |
| sedimentary | a type of rock that is formed by the deposition of sediment |
| metamorphic | a type of rock formed when igneous, sedimentary, or other metamorphic rocks are changed by extreme heat/and or pressure |
| sediment | Solid fragments of inorganic or organic material that come from the weathering of rock and are carried and deposited by wind, water, or ice |
| weathering | the process of breaking rock into soil, sand, and other tiny pieces |
| deposition | the process of dropping, or depositing, sediment in a new location |
| erosion | the process of moving sediment from one place to another |
| landform | a physical feature on the earth's surface |
| fossil fuels | fuels formed from the remains of once-living oganisms |
