| Heterozygous/Hybrid | When an organism has both a recessive and dominant gene. |
| Homozygous/Purebred | When organism has two dominant genes or two recessive genes |
| Alleles/Genotypes | Letters that represent an outcome of trait |
| Dominant | A trait that always shows up, no matter if there is a recessive gene |
| Recessive | A gene that will show up if now dominant trait is with it |
| Trait | A characteristic |
| Gene | Factors that control traits |
| Heredity | The passing of traits from parents to offspring |
| Genetics | The study of heredity |
| Phenotype | The way an organism is or looks |
| Chromosomes | A structure or thick coils of DNA |
| DNA | (Deoxyribonucleic acid) 2 paralell strands that determine traits |
| Acquired Triat | A trait developed in a lifetime, not a trait passed down from a parent. For example, one can develope knowledge from reading books |
| Inherited Trait | A trait received from a parent. For example, you might have Hazel eyes as your parents did. |
