Where do most Earth quakes happen? Along tectonic plate boundaries.
What are the two types of seismic waves? Body waves and surface wave.
Where do surface waves occure? Along the Earth's surface.
Where do body waves occure? Through the Earth's interior.
What can P waves travel though? Solids, liquids, and gases.
How do P waves make rocks move? In a back and forth motion.
How do S waves make rocks move? In a side to side motion.
Which waves are faster? P waves or S waves P waves.
What can S waves not pass through? Liquids.
What is the epicenter? The point on the Earth's surface directly above an earth quake's starting point.
What is the foucus? The point inside the Earth where an EQ begins
What are P waves also known as? Pressure waves or primary waves.
What are S waves also known as? Secondary or shear waves.
