What does the Richter Magnitude Scale do? This scale measures the strength of the earthquake
What does the Mercalli Intensity Scale do? This scale tells us how much damage was done.
Which way do S waves move? Side to side
Which waves are the most destructive? L Waves
How many seismographs do you need to locate the epicenter of an earthquake? 3
What plate boundaries can earthquakes happen? Transform
What is the highest magnitude of the Richter Scale? 10
What is the study of earthquakes called? Seismology.
Why do earthquakes happen at at faults? Because the blocks of the Earth's crust that have broken slide relative to one another.
