Layers of the Earth

Questions about the layers of the Earth.

What are Answer
What are the most common elements found on the Earth's surface? Silicon and Oxygen
Are these elements found in equal amounts throughout the Earth? No. Heavier elements sink towards the center of the Earth, lighter elements stay at the surface.
What is Earth's interior mostly made of? Mostly rock, but it isn't always solid.
What are the four main layers of the Earth? - The Inner Core - The Outer Core - Mantle - Crust
What is the Outer Core made of? What is it's state? Iron and nickel. Liquid.
What is the mantle made of? What is it's state? Silicon, oxygen, magnesium, and iron. It's a solid, but acts like it's a liquid when under heat and pressure.
How thick is the Crust? 5 - 60 km
How thick is the Outer Core? 2200 km
How thick the Mantle? 2900 km
What's the thickest layer of the Earth? Mantle
Where is the Lithosphere located? Between the Crust and solid upper Mantle.
What is the Asthenosphere? A plastic layer where tectonic plated float.
What is the Mesophere? A liquid, quite like the lower mantle.
Where is the Asthenosphere located? A think layer between the upper and lower mantle.
What makes up the very center of the Earth? The Inner Core
What part of the Mantle is malleable? Lower
What are the two types of Crust? Oceanic and Continental.
What type of Crust is less dense? Continental
What type of Crust is more dense? Oceanic
How is the Lithosphere described? The outermost rigid layer
