Musical Vocabulary
Students will be learning a few key vocabulary words about Music.

| Accompaniment | The musical background played behind the main performer. |
| Allegro | To play a piece in a lively manner, at a fast, but not too fast pace. |
| Arpeggio | Playing the notes in a chord quickly one after the other. |
| Ballad | A short poem that tells a story which is often set to music. |
| Beat | The regular rhythmic pattern of music. |
| Choir | A group of singers who perform together. |
| Chord | Three or more tones played together. |
| Duet | A composition for two performers. |
| Dynamics | The degree of loudness or softness in music. |
| Encore | The call for a performer to continue playing at the end of a concert. |
| Ensemble | A group of people singing or playing together. |
| Finale | Italian for "end." The final part of a piece of music. |
| Harmony | A combination of pitches sounding together, such as a chord. |
| Rhythm | The patterns of time and beats in music. |
| Song | A short piece of music written for a solo voice, with or without accompaniment. |
