Electromagnetic spectrum All types of electromagnetic radiation arranged according to wave length and frequency.
Refracting telescope Telescope that uses lenses to focus visible light.
Reflecting telescope Telescope that uses mirrors to focus visible light.
Interferometry Process that links separate telescopes so they act as one telescope, producing more detailed images as the distance between them increases.
Albedo Percentage of sunlight that is reflected by the surface within a single air mass and is most common during the afternoon and evening.
Highland Light-color, mountainous, heavily cratered area of the moon, composed mostly of lunar breccias.

Impact crater Crater formed when space material impacted on moons surface.
ejecta Material that falls back to the lunar surface after being blasted out by the impact of aspace oject.
Ray long trail of ejecta that radiates outward from a moon crater.
Rille Valleylike structure that meanders across some regions of a slope carves a small stream channel.
Regolith Layer of loose, ground-up rock on the lunar surface.
Ecliptic plane Plane of earths orbit around the sun.
Solstice Its where the earth orbits around the sun and the tilt of earths axis are illustrated.
equinox Time of year during which earths axis is at a 90 degree angle to the sun;both hemispheres receives exactly 12 hours of sunlight and the sun is directly overhead at the equator.
Synchronous rotation The state at which the moons orbital and rotational periods are equal.
Solar eclipse When the moon passes between earth and the sun and the sun and the moon casts a shadow on earth blocking earths view of the sun;can be partial or total.
Perigee Closest point in the moons elliptical orbit to earth.
