What is a cell? the building blocks of life.
What is a nucleus? The "brain" of a cell, it holds all genetic material and information.
What makes plants have a rigid structure? The cell wall of its cells.
What are specialized cells? Cells that are given a specific job and have special functions that help it do its job and that job only.
If someone stops taking antibiotics before they are done with them what is the trade off decision? Stop taking antibiotics, the trade off is that all the bacteria keeps coming and you stay sick.
What are the waste products of respiration? Carbon dioxide and water.
10x Eyepiecs and 40x objective give a total magnification of what? 10*40=400 400x
Everything that enters a cell must pass through what? The cell membrane.
How do you properly focus a microscope? 1. Start at low power 2. Stage at high so you can move down and not up because you could break the slide on high power if moving the stage up.
What usually causes infectious diseases? Microbes.
What is the trade off of quarantine? Other people without the disease don't get sick, the trade off is that the people who are quarantined lose there freedom.
What are organs? A group of tissue working together to make a part of the body function.
How are plants and people alike? They are both made up of cells.
What are some examples of single celled organisms? 1. Ameoba 2. Paramecium 3. Yeast
Which organisms have a cell membrane? Every organism has a cell membrane.
What are some life functions cells perform? 1. Reproduce 2. Take in food and use it as energy 3. Respire 4. let out waste 5. Grow
Why are viruses considered non-living? 1. Not a cell 2. Cant reproduce 3. Don't take in food for energy
Which organisms have a cell wall? 1. Bacteria 2. Plant cells
What are the trade offs of high power? You see more detail of the specimen, the trade off is that you see less of the specimen.
What is the best way to stop the spread of disease? Wash your hands.
